Frequently Asked Questions

Who does the tying?
Shane F King, who also does the photography.

How much does a shibari boudoir session cost?
Pricing is determined by the products and total number of chosen favorite images, decided after the shoot. The most popular package is $3500, and packages start as low as $2000. There is a separate session fee of $500 due at booking, which is applied to hiring a makeup artist and other preparations that go into the shoot.

Are payment plans available?
Yes, pre-session plans are recommended, and post-session plans may be available to you through PayPal or Square.

Where are sessions held?
Typically sessions are held at a private house studio in Los Angeles. Travel and destination settings can be arranged as well.

Will my Photos be Private?
Yes. Only people who wish to sign a release will have their photos published.

I don’t look like the people in your photos, would you still work with me?
Yes. The people seen in the photos are just some of the clients I’ve worked with, who have given me permission to share, and are not representative of the range of people I work with.

May I bring a companion / friend / chaperone to the shoot?
Yes, they are welcome to be present at the studio while we work.

Making art that you will love for decades to come.

Luxury photo albums and museum quality prints offer a beautiful way to appreciate the subtle details your photographs. Nothing can replace the vivid details and scale of a large print or photo book, an iPhone screen just does not compare. My photo books are made in Portugal by the best team of printers I’ve found, and my paper prints are made in Los Angeles on museum-quality Hahnemühle paper. Digital copies are also available.

If we’re going take the time to make art, it’s worth it to do it right.

After all, a boudoir session is a serious investment of resources, the most precious of which is time. That’s why it is important to me that you end up with a book or prints that will only become more treasured as time goes on. With proper care, your artwork will last for decades.
